Since Megyn Kelly’s NBC morning show debuted in September, her ratings have been incredibly low. Now, it appears that the pressure of Kelly’s tanking career is finally getting to her.
Mediaite reported that Kelly broke down in tears Monday morning as she talked about Sunday’s mass shooting at a Texas church that left 26 people dead.
“How do you make sense of a case where a 5-year-old gets shot five times?” Kelly said. “You know? 26 people are dead. I mean, what — does it say about us? Right? What are we going to do about it?”
“All of the victims are in our prayers this morning,” she added.
Though she claimed she was crying for the victims, it can definitely argued that Kelly was crying at her own failed career as well. At this point, it must be obvious to Kelly that she made a huge mistake in leaving Fox News.
This comes after Kelly was thrown under the bus by her “Today” cohost Matt Lauer. Page Six reported that when a industry insider told Lauer that celebrities are being advised to avoid Kelly’s show amidst the declining ratings, he replied that he “gets it.”
Lauer added that, “it’s a big problem for them,” referring to Kelly’s show. Publicists are telling their clients to avoid the show not only because of the bad ratings, but also because of Kelly’s cringeworthy interviews with celebrities like Debra Messing and Jane Fonda during her first week.
Now, it’s been reported that Kelly is dragging down “Kathie Lee & Hoda,” which airs right after her program.
“This week was the lowest Kathie and Hoda have rated since 2010,” said a source. “It keeps getting worse. Megyn is killing them. It is a real problem and no one wants to book Megyn’s show.”
“They can keep telling you about all the lunches they’re taking her to, but it’s not helping the ratings,” another source added.
It remains to be seen whether Kelly will be able to survive at NBC. Frankly, the network should have known that viewers would not want to watch her there. Liberals will never forgive her for working at Fox News, and conservatives will never forgive her for ditching her former network.
