• The attack: A van plowed into a crowd of people in Barcelona near Las Ramblas, an area popular with tourists.
• The victims: At least 13 people were killed, and at least 80 more were injured.
• The arrests: Catalan President Carles Puigdemont said two suspects have been arrested. Police are treating the incident as an act of terrorism.
• And ISIS: The terror group claims attackers as "soldiers of the Islamic state" — but it has not explicitly claim responsibility for attack.

Pope Francis praying for attack victims

Director of the Holy See press office, Greg Burk, just issued this statement:

"The Holy Father is following with great concern what is happening in Barcelona. The Pope is praying for the victims of this attack and wants to express all his closeness to the Spanish people, in particular to the injured and the families of the victims."

Dow has its worst day in 3 months

The Dow slipped 274 points after the attack in Barcelona – its worst day in three months. Nasdaq fell 1.9% and S&P dipped 1.5%.

Mike Pence: We will help "find and punish those responsible"

Vice President Mike Pence says the "scenes of carnage and mayhem" on the streets of Barcelona "sicken us all."

Speaking at a press conference at the Panama Canal, he said: "The United States condemns this terror attack, and we will do whatever is necessary to help."

"What inspired today’s terror attack, The United States stands ready to assist the people of Spain and find and punish those responsible," he said.

Pence added that the "prayers of all the American people are with he victims."
